Auckland Regional Public Health Service is advising that people can attend events or public gatherings, unless they are unwell with symptoms of measles.
The service is not advising that people stay away from events or that these be cancelled.
- Not sure if you’ve had the measles vaccine? Ask your doctor.
- Those under 5 years and between 15 and 29 years are currently the priority for vaccination.
- If you catch measles, you can infect others from five days before the rash appears until five days after the rash disappears. The virus is highly contagious and spreads easily from person to person through the air.
- People should remain at home if they have been told to be in quarantine, even if they are feeling well.
- If you have any concerns about the measles outbreak, or you are experiencing the following symptoms a fever, runny nose, cough, sore red eyes or rash contact your doctor or call Healthline on 0800 611 116 immediately.
